Of course, the TMC chairperson has made this announcement out of sheer desperation and nothing else. She knows the party isn’t coming to power anyways, so what’s in making the promise.
If she had studied Goa’s finances or at least consulted some expert, she would know how much in deep hole Goa currently is in considering the debts.
The party splurges money to buy leaders left, right and centre feels it can gain power through such tricks. But Goans know their limits. They know what is possible and what is not.
Maybe Mamta made this announcement for her State’s citizens, who have migrated to Goa.

The Trinamool Congress earlier this week announced that it would increase the current Griha Aadhar grant of ₹ 1500 by the Goa government to ₹ 5000 if her party is voted to power.
The announcement seems to have shocked one and all about how it can be managed? Considering the ₹ 25000 cr debt of the State.

Maybe Mamta made this announcement for her State’s citizens, who have migrated to Goa.
Ahead of the Goa Assembly election scheduled to take place in a few months, the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) promised the Griha Laxmi Scheme, according to which a monthly sum of Rs 5,000 will be directly transferred to a woman in every household in the State.
In response to this election promise, Rajya Sabha MP and former finance minister P Chidambaram of the Congress party said sarcastically, “Here is a math that deserves the Nobel Prize for Economics.”
He took to Twitter to air his views on the proposed scheme. “A monthly grant of Rs 5,000 to a woman in 3.5 lakh households in Goa will cost Rs 175 crore a month. That is Rs 2,100 crore a year. It is a “small” sum for the State of Goa that had an outstanding debt of Rs 23,473 crore at the end of March 2020,” he wrote.
P Chidambaram concluded, “God bless Goa! Or should it be God save Goa?”
Chidambaram was right when he said Goa could not bear such a huge expenditure. After all, he has served as the Finance Minister of this country, and Mahua Moitra should have abstained from commenting on his statement, respecting his experience. But what can be expected from a TMC leader whose party does not respect anyone?
Now, whether such expenditure is feasible is a secondary issue. Can didi or Mahua Moitra tell us whether such a scheme is being implemented in West Bengal? Didi can only make a promise if the scheme exists in Bengal; otherwise, she has no right to do that in Goa.
If she has not implemented the scheme in Bengal, where the TMC has been ruling for years, what is the guarantee TMC would implement that in Goa? Why is the party trying to fool Goans?
By now, Goa knows very well what TMC is all about. The party wants to gain power by hook or crook to fulfil the quest of Mamata Banerjee to become the Prime Minister of India.
By now, people are well aware of the vindictive politics of Mamata and the TMC, and people have also seen the massacre of Opposition party workers under her rule and Goans are smart enough to keep evil forces at bay irrespective of their party affiliations.
