VARCA: A theft incident involving wine bottles worth approximately ₹13,000 has been reported at Varca Mini Mart, with the shop owner expressing concern over the lack of progress in the police investigation nearly ten days after the complaint was lodged.
According to the complaint, three tourists visited the store on June 12 at around 12:50 pm. It is alleged that during their visit, they removed several bottles of wine from the premises without making payment and left the store.
The discrepancy was detected later during routine stock verification. Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, store management reportedly found clear visual evidence of the individuals allegedly committing the theft.
Further inquiries conducted by the complainant revealed that the suspects were staying at a resort in South Goa at the time of the incident.
A formal complaint was filed at Colva Police Station on June 12, the same day the theft occurred. However, despite nearly ten days having elapsed since the complaint was registered, the shop owner claims that no substantial update has been received from the Investigating Officer, nor has any significant progress in the investigation been communicated.
The complainant has urged the authorities to expedite the investigation, trace the accused persons, and initiate appropriate legal action in the matter.
