ZUARINAGAR: A gold ornament worth approximately ₹4 lakh was allegedly stolen from a locked hotel room in Zuarinagar while a family from Kerala was away, prompting Verna Police to register an offence.
According to the complaint filed by Fathima Shah, a resident of Kollam, Kerala, she and her family had booked the hotel room during their holiday. On April 16, between 7.15 pm and 11.30 pm, the family members were away from the room.
Taking advantage of their absence, unknown persons allegedly entered the locked room and stole a gold ornament valued at around ₹4 lakh. The ornament had reportedly been kept inside a bag in the room.
Verna Police have registered an offence under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in connection with the theft.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Mahesh Bhomkar of Verna Police Station under the supervision of PI Anand Shirodkar and the guidance of Mormugao DySP Gurudas Kadam. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged break-in and working to identify the accused.
