CURCHOREM: Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce at Curchorem received a major infrastructure upgrade on Friday with the inauguration of a Computer Science Laboratory, Smart Boards and two college buses created at a cost of over ₹81.60 lakh through funding from the South Goa District Mineral Foundation (Trust).
The facilities were inaugurated by Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai in the presence of Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral, senior government officials and college authorities.
Addressing the gathering, Dessai said digital literacy has become as essential as basic literacy in today’s technology-driven world. He noted that rapid technological advancements have transformed education and communication, making digital knowledge indispensable for students to succeed in the modern era.
Cabral said the government remains committed to strengthening educational infrastructure and equipping students with modern learning facilities. He urged students to make optimum use of the new laboratory, Smart Boards and buses while maintaining them responsibly.
The inauguration was attended by Additional Collector Ramesh Gaonkar, IAS officer Mohammad Shoukat Azim, Deputy Collector Amitesh Shirvoikar, Mineral Foundation of Goa CEO Dr Sachin Tendulkar and Principal Dr Pravina Kerkar.
