COLVALE: Colvale Police arrested a 27-year-old man after allegedly recovering 1.580 kg of suspected ganja, valued at approximately ₹1.60 lakh, during a narcotics raid at Housing Board, Colvale, Bardez.
According to police, the raid was conducted between 2.22 am and 3.50 am on August 19, 2026, near the Dattatray Temple following specific and reliable information.
The accused has been identified as Saish, son of Gangaram Sawant, a resident of Bamanwado, Karaswada, Bardez.
Police said the accused was allegedly found in illegal possession of dried greenish-coloured leafy and flowery substances with seeds and stalks, suspected to be ganja. The suspected narcotic substance, along with other articles, was seized under a panchanama.
Colvale Police registered Crime No. 68/2026 under Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
The accused was arrested at 5.05 am on August 19, 2026. Police said all Supreme Court guidelines were duly followed and the accused’s family was informed about his arrest.
