ASSONORA: A 15-year-old boy died after the motorcycle on which he was travelling as a pillion rider skidded and fell on Goa State Highway 1 near Holy Cross Chapel at Assonora on September 22.
According to Colvale Police, the accident occurred at around 1.30 pm when the accused, identified as Shivraj, 22, was riding a Honda Shine motorcycle bearing registration number GA-03-AS-6279 from Assonora towards Sirsaim.
Police said the rider allegedly rode the motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner without taking proper care and precautions, thereby endangering human life. On reaching near Holy Cross Chapel, Assonora, he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, causing it to skid. The rider and the pillion rider fell on the road.
The 15-year-old pillion rider, a resident of Poriem, Sattari, sustained injuries to his head and eye in the accident. He was subsequently shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Based on a complaint submitted by Head Constable Haresh Madhukar Redkar of Colvale Police Station, police registered Colvale Police Station Crime No. 74/2026 under Sections 281 and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The investigation is being conducted by PSI Ramchandra Satelkar of Colvale Police Station.
Police said the accused has not been arrested. A notice under Section 35(3) of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) has been issued to him.
