MARGAO: Colva Police has arrested two persons in connection with organising a bulk fight at Majorda in South Goa.
The accused has been identified as Tanay Bharma Lohar who is a resident of Nerul and Zafar Kittur who is a resident of Azadnagar Margao.
The police has also arrested a group of people who who are seen in the video posted on social media when the bull fight was taking place.
A video was going viral on social media wherein wherein a group of people were seen cheering during a bulk fight on the middle of the road at Majorda.
Sources informed that the bull fight blocked traffic on the main road, and it took some time before the traffic stranded on the road was cleared.
The court said help was sought from the animal husbandry department for assistance to police for tagging the bulls likely to be used in such fights.
This was being done to identify and investigate the activities of the bull owners and how they contribute to organising bullfights actively or otherwise. The court asked the police chief to devise steps for enforcing the ban.
Two bulls are provoked into taking each other head-on by locking horns for bullfighting. It can take several hours until a winner emerges usually when one bull flees. The Supreme Court has upheld the high court’s ban on bullfighting, which has continued sporadically.
