BAMBOLIM: Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has ordered suspension of two staff nurses attached to Goa Dental College for dereliction in duty.
Rane inspected the premises of Goa Dental College today in the presence of Dean Dr. Ida.
Rane directed the Dean of Goa Dental College to issue suspension order to the two nurses after a patient complained about the rude behaviour of nurses during his visit to the Hospital.
The suspension order will come in a day or two, he told media and warned hospital staff to be courteous to the patients.
“During my course of the inspection, I came across complaints from several patients with regards to two nurses, Soniya Kerkar and Nikita Naik, who have been suspended with immediate effect,” said Rane
He further said that he has tendered a strict warning to the staff, instructed them that the patients are our top priority.
“I would like to take this opportunity to mention that the Dean and her team of doctors and staff are doing a commendable job at Dental College,” he added
Rane said that his focus is on improving the infrastructure; setting up 24/7 emergency set-up and plans are underway to shift the entire facility at the new dental college building with enhanced facilities.
“I shall also be having a discussion with the Hon’ble CM, Dr Pramod Sawant regarding certain shortcomings that I discovered today during the inspection, so that together, with his advice we will be able to ensure that the dental college can provide the best possible care to the people of Goa,” he said
