PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that 204 kgs of drugs worth Rs 8.38 crore have been seized and 197 drug peddlers have been arrested in 2023.
“Goa is often related with drugs, but today I want tell people what action we have taken, from January to December, 197 drug peddlers, dealers were arrested & 204 kg various kinds of drugs seized costing Rs. 8.38 crores approx,” said Sawant
He further said that all these seized drugs is incinerated at Kundaim Bio Medical Waster plant every 6 months or 1 year.
“I appeal all the Goan youths to not get involved in drugs or drugs related activities. I appeal youth that just because of money, they should not deal with drugs business,” said Sawant.
“Our State has zero tolerance towards illegal drug trafficking. My government will act with an iron fist against any place used for such illegal activity,” he added.
“People involved in these illegal activities won’t be spared either. Crackdown and action will continue,” the CM said.
Sawant had earlier said that the police were working effectively to destroy the “demand of drugs” and henceforth raids will be conducted on night parties.
