BENAULIM: A 26-year-old footballer from Ambaulim, Quepem, died after collapsing during a football match at Dando Ground in Benaulim on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Dailon Nathalino Carvalho (26). He was representing United Boys of Ambaulim in a match against Guardian Angel Sports Club, Curchorem when the incident occurred.
According to available information, Dailon suddenly collapsed while attempting to head the ball during the match. Players and officials immediately rushed to his aid before he was taken to the casualty department of a nearby hospital.
Doctors, however, declared him brought dead on arrival.
The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, and further investigation is underway.
