NUVEM: A 39-year-old man died after allegedly being assaulted by a group of people who suspected him of being involved in the theft of a two-wheeler in the Salcete area.
According to Goa Police, the incident occurred at Nuvem on the evening of August 27 between 7 pm and 10 pm. An unlawful assembly allegedly intercepted the man and assaulted him with kicks and fist blows.
The injured man was subsequently shifted to the Casualty Department of South Goa District Hospital, Margao, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have arrested five persons in connection with the case, while two other accused persons are reportedly absconding. The stolen two-wheeler has also been recovered.
Multiple police teams have been deployed to identify the remaining persons allegedly involved in the unlawful assembly and assault. Police are also working to ascertain the individual roles of those involved in the incident.
