CANACONA: 460 disabled persons were registered at the Divyangjan Assessment Camp organized by the Planning and Statistics Department of Goa in collaboration with the Government of India at the Government Higher Secondary School auditorium in Xeller in Canacona.
The camp, under the ADIP Scheme in association with ALIMCO, aims to identify and support Divyangjans by providing aids and appliances free of cost.
The camp held for the whole day was inaugurated by Speaker and MLA of Canacona Ramesh Tawadkar in the presence of CMC Chairperson Sara Naik Desai and a horde of other leaders including sarpanch’s all the village panchayats of Canacona.
In this camp, wheelchairs, hearing aids, equipment for Bone pain and other facilities will be provided to the disabled. In addition, examinations of Brain, Ear and Bone specialists were conducted and four departments were set up for various types of examinations.
It is stated that these free facilities will be made available only to the disabled people above the age of 18 and having their monthly income less than 22500.
A separate counter at the camp site is made available to facilitated providing income certificate with the presence of panchayat Secretaries and other employees of all the panchayats, employees of central government departments, and a Medical team from the Community Health Center (CHC) of Canacona under the guidance of Dr. Diwakarji Velip were present at the camp.
Painguinim Sarpanch Savita Tawadkar, Shristhal Sarpanch Sejal Gaonkar, Khotigao Sarpanch Vrinda Velip, Loliem-Polem Sarpanch Nisha Chari, Agonda Sarpanch Nilesh Pagi, CMC Councilors Ramakant Naik Gaunkar, Simon Ribello, Hemant Naik Gaunkar, Joint Director of Planning & Statistic Department Taha Hazir, Swayampurn Mitra Manthan Naik, Vipul Naik Gaunkar, Meghna Gaude and others were present.
This is the third camp held in Goa so far. Earlier Joint Director Taha Hazir welcomed while Prakash Velip moderated the program.
