ASSOLNA: A 58-year-old man was found lying unconscious inside his residence at Orel, Assolna, on September 1, following which he was shifted to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The deceased has been identified as Savio Alex Rosario Fernandes, 58, a resident of Orel, Assolna, Salcete.
According to police, a phone call was received from PCR Margao informing them that a person was lying at Orel, Assolna. Police personnel subsequently visited the location and found Fernandes lying inside the house.
He was shifted to SGDH Margao through a 108 ambulance. However, the duty doctor declared him brought dead.
During preliminary enquiry with his cousin Fedrico Alex Ferrao and caretaker Sarogini Rodrigues, police learnt that Fernandes had arrived in Goa from Mumbai around 15 days before the incident and had been residing at Orel.
Police said Fernandes was suffering from a medical condition involving low blood sugar levels and had hired a caretaker. On August 29, he was taken to District Hospital, Margao, after his blood sugar level dropped and was discharged later the same day.
On August 31, Fernandes was taken to Navelim for medical tests. After completion of the tests, he returned home along with his caretaker.
On September 1, at around 8 am, he was found lying inside his residence.
Police subsequently conducted the scene of Unnatural Death (UD) occurrence panchanama and inquest panchanama. The body has been preserved at SGDH Margao for further medico-legal formalities.
