CALANGUTE: The 59th Babreshwar Jatra, also known as the banana festival, will commence on Saturday, 11 February 2023.
The Babreshwar temple trust president Chandrakant Chodankar said that this unique festival goes on for seven days, i.e. till 17 February.
Chodankar said that the devotees visit the temple and offer a bunch of bananas to Lord Babreshwar. Later the bananas are auctioned, and the money collected is kept for the maintenance of the temple.
This time we have made a lottery to collect funds for the work of the temple, which is incomplete.
The fisherfolk from the Christian community in Calangute also give an offering to Lord Babreshwar, praying for a good fishing season.
