PANAJI: The Town and Country Planning Department has put forward proposals to bring 64,232 square metres of land spread across 18 plots under settlement zoning, inviting members of the public to file objections or suggestions on the proposed changes.
The notice, issued by Chief Town Planner (Planning) Vertika Dagur, covers properties located in Guirdolim, Candolim, Nachinola, Cortalim, Damocem-Sattari, Morjim, Morambi-O-Pequeno and Aldona.
The land parcels presently carry a range of zoning classifications. A majority are identified as orchard and natural cover areas, while some of the properties have additional designations linked to environmental and specific land-use restrictions.
These include no-development slopes, cultivable areas falling within irrigation command zones and a plot classified for crematorium use.
The single largest parcel covered by the proposals is located in Candolim and measures 35,410 square metres.
The TCP Board considered the proposals at its meeting on August 28, following which the department issued the notification under Section 39A of the TCP Act to seek public feedback.
Members of the public who have objections or suggestions regarding any of the proposed changes can submit them in writing to the Chief Town Planner.
The submissions must be made within 30 days of publication of the notification in the Official Gazette, after which the department will proceed with further consideration of the proposals.
