BASTORA: A 75-year-old man sustained serious injuries, including grievous head injuries, in a road accident near Belekar Open Air Hall, Bastora, Bardez, on August 5.
According to the complaint filed by Tome Piedade Fernandes, son of late Eugenio Fernandes, a resident of Quitla, Aldona, the accident occurred at around 10 am when he was riding scooter bearing registration number GA-03-J-4641 from Moira towards Aldona.
Police said the accused, Maruti Arjun Jadhav, a resident of Madel, Thivim, was driving vehicle bearing registration number GA-07-T-2555 from Aldona towards Mapusa via Bastora. The accused allegedly drove in a rash and negligent manner and, without exercising due care and caution, attempted to overtake the complainant’s scooter near Belekar Open Air Hall.
During the overtaking manoeuvre, the vehicle reportedly collided with the scooter, resulting in the complainant sustaining serious bodily injuries, including grievous injuries to his head.
The complaint was registered on August 26, 2026, at 8:24 pm. Further investigation is being conducted by IO HC 4881 Satish Thakur.
