CANACONA : The 78 houses in Canacona Communidade in Agonda village got reprive for the second time, after an interim court order have reportedly stayed the demolition of a few houses.
According to sources, the demolition of 78 houses in Canacona Communidade land at four different places in Agonda village was again scheduled for 9th May ‘2023, after its initial demolition of 18th April’2023 was postponed due to non-availability of Police Force because of ongoing G-20 meetings in the State.
It is learnt that the Goa Bench of the Bombay High Court had stayed the demolitions pertaining to illegal construction of 78 Houses in Communidade land of Agonda village.
It may be recalled that the 78 houses in Agonda village in the land belonging to Canacona Communidade were taken up for demolitions by Administrator of Communidade (South) following courts directions on a complaint filed some 9 petitioner’s two years ago on 18 th April.
The demolition drive was however postponed at the 11th hour following Police expressing their inability to provide the police force for demolitions drive as the policemen were already deployed for G-20 security arrangements.
It is further learnt that while the litigants has approached the court for inaction by the Administrator of Communidade (South), the Administrator fixed 9th May for demolition only to be stayed by High Court reportedly following intervening appeal/petitions filed by affected parties.
