PANAJI: Goa Police launched “Creatathon” event for students of Goa Engineering College of Farmagudi, Ponda. In continuation of the MoU signed between Goa Engineering Collage and Goa Police in February 2023, the Creatathon is a collaboration between Goa Engineering Collage and Goa Police aimed at creating an E-Beat book system. The e-Beat book aims at making Beat book online.
A Beat book is the collection of information of all the details, including anti-social elements of a particular beat area. Beat officers, who are generally the rank of constable head coney, maintain the beat book as a record. It also ensures supervision by senior officers. The IT Department of Goa Engineering College students were briefed by SP (North/Crime), Shri Nidhin Valsan, IPS and Principal GEC Dr M. S. Krupashankara, Head of the department Dr Nilesh B.
Faldessai, Dr Aisha Fernandes, Associate Professor of IT Department, Mr Bipin Naik, Assistant Professor of IT Department and PI Saroj Divkar, PI TPU, were also present and spoke to the students. 13 teams of students enrolled, and they were given twenty days to create E-Beat book App. The best three Apps will be rewarded, and after a security audit, the best E Beat book App will be used by Goa Police as a part of its “SMART” Policing Initiative.
