PANAJI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa has predicted rain/thundershowers at a few places on October 17 and 18.
“Goa could witness another bout of light-to-moderate rainfall with thunderstorms for another couple of days as the low-pressure area is likely to move further west-northwestwards and intensify into a depression,” said IMD.
The monsoon’s retreat over Goa is being delayed by this little rain. Meteorologist Ramesh Kumar stated, “There is a delay in the monsoon’s withdrawal, just as there was at its beginning.
The IMD reports that the southwest monsoon’s withdrawal line still passes through Forbesganj, Malda, Vishakhapatnam, Nalgonda, Raichur, and Vengurla.
However, over the past few days, the State has been experiencing atypical weather: hot and muggy days, followed by chilly evenings.
The sky cleared as well, and the daytime temperature increased to a scorching and muggy level. But as the evening wore on, the sky got gloomy and there was a little rain in certain areas.
In Panaji, the state’s capital, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32.6 degrees Celsius, while the lowest recorded temperature was 24 degrees.
Since the IMD records monsoon rainfall through September 30, it incorporates October rainfall into the calculation for the new season.
