VASCO: The FL Gomes road near IOC junction will be temporarily open to the public for the next seven days, coinciding with the 125th Damodar Bhajani Saptah festival, set to commence on August 10th.
Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar, alongside MMC Chairperson Girish Borkar and other officials, opened the road for public use today.
“Last year, the traditional furniture shops were relocated, causing them inconvenience due to the ongoing up-ramp construction. They approached me to request the same route. After discussions with GAMMON India officials and follow-ups by our MMC Chairperson, we ensured that heavy traffic could use the FL GOMES road. This will help decongest traffic in Vasco,” said Salkar.
The road has been temporarily tarred to facilitate smooth traffic flow for the next seven days.
In the ongoing Assembly session, Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar has actively raised several critical issues. “Vasco is a meticulously planned city, but for various reasons, it hasn’t seen the development it deserves. We have ambitious plans for the city, such as the upcoming international cruise terminal and the new international railway station, which will create a positive impression on tourists,” Salkar stated.
Salkar also mentioned his recent proposal to the Urban Development (UD) Minister for financial budget provisions to enhance the city’s infrastructure. “I have full trust in our CM Pramod Sawant and UD Minister Vishwajeet Rane. They will ensure that Vasco city does not lag in development. Significant infrastructure projects are on the horizon,” he added.
As the Damodar Bhajani Saptah festival begins, the city of Vasco is gearing up to welcome an influx of visitors, and the temporary road opening is a step towards ensuring a hassle-free celebration. The local authorities are committed to balancing tradition with modernity, paving the way for a brighter future for Vasco.
