Copelabhat, Diyav is a rural area in the Ambavali ward of Quepem Municipality, and a unique initiative has been taken by the locals to start “Vachpache ghor”, the library which is open from 5 pm to 7 pm.
The small library has books, magazines, and newspapers that youth of Village and senior citizens can read to improve their knowledge.
Joao Fernandes, a local responsible for starting “Vachpache Ghor”, said that the library was opened before Pendamic’s time.
The facility has been maintained, Fernandes said, but it has been closed for the past two years due to the pandemic situation, and the library house consists of newspapers, magazines, some novels and educational books for the youth of Village.

“We also made awareness by going door-to-door to inform people about the initiative, and it got a great response from people, Fernandes said.
Another person who played an instrumental role in implementing this idea was Franco Rebello.
He says that the reader’s house used to have an Anganwadi and a library in it.
“It was run from the Anganwadi Fund, at that time, books and newspapers which put in the library,” he said.
Ludries Fernandes, a local Copela Bhat, said that the Vachapa Ghor stands is a religious place of the Village called Konkani (Mana).
