PANAJI: Valmiki Naik, president of the Aam Aadmi Party in Goa, has written to Director General of Police Alok Kumar seeking immediate suo motu action against Gautam Khattar over alleged derogatory remarks concerning St. Francis Xavier.
In his communication, Naik stated that the remarks, reportedly made in the presence of BJP Minister Mauvin Godinho and MLA Krishna Salkar, have caused deep hurt to the sentiments of Goa’s Christian community. He termed the comments as irresponsible and warned that such statements could potentially disturb communal harmony in the state.
Naik further alleged that the remarks appeared to be a deliberate attempt to provoke divisions along communal lines. Stressing the need for swift intervention, he urged the police to initiate strict legal proceedings and ensure that peace and harmony are maintained across Goa.
The AAP leader called on the state police to act promptly and decisively against the individual concerned to prevent any escalation of tensions.
