PANAJI: Close on the heels of rumours that Crutorim MLA Alexio Reginald Lourenco is expected to join Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), reports suggest
AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal is expected to be in Goa on October 7 for induction of the MLA in the party.
Kejriwal will also flag off Rozgar yatra and booth level employment guarantee registration.
On Monday, Aam Aadmi Party met a massive 5000 Goans over 80 meetings in a single Sunday evening yesterday. Spanning the entire state with meetings from from in Cancona South Goa right up to Pernem in the North the 200 speakers spoke to Goenkars on the Sunday evening about Arvind Kejriwal’s job guarantee. 90% of all attendees registered their support for Kejriwal’s Job Guarantee and pledged to vote for AAP in the upcoming assembly elections.
It was clear by the huge turnout in AAPs meetings that residents are angry with the BJP leadership for not providing them with jobs or support for losing their jobs. As Goenkars flocked to the meetings they shared with party leaders how they had been cheated of jobs. Many spoke on how jobs were promised to them before every small or large election but disappeared once BJP leaders got elected.
They were angry at the Jumla of 10,000 jobs promised by the Sawant Sarkar that doesn’t seem to materialise. Many of the attendees had lost their jobs due to the lockdown. In the Mining belt of Maem, Bicholim and Pramod Sawant’s own Sanquelim residents were angry that the Govt had taken no steps to restart MIning nor had they taken any steps to support mining dependents. In the tourism belts of Benaulim and Calangute residents shared how the drop of tourism due to the pandemic has caused many to lose jobs and business that used to sustain them. Attendees were small business owners and even taxikars who shared that the Govt didn’t support them despite facing losses and hardships.
Attendees drew comparisons between Arvind Kejriwal’s Rozgar Portal, which has provided lakhs of Delhi residents jobs under the Kejriwal Sarkar with the failure of the BJP to do the same. They compared how the Kejriwal Govt provided aid to those in need and how AAP Goa even provided ration. The younger attendees spoke about how the Kejriwal Govt has created a skill university, sorely needed in Goa.
When Arvind Kejriwal arrived in Goa in September, he announced his guarantee of providing employment to every youth and end nepotism in jobs. Kejriwal said that every youth will be given employment and till the employment is not provided, one youth of every family will be given Rs 3,000 per month. He also announced that 80 percent of jobs in the private sector will be reserved for the youth of Goa, an announcement that met with a lot of cheer and support in Goa. He also announced that AAP will provide Rs 5,000 monthly to families who lost employment due to shutdown of tourism and mining. The AAP Government will further establish a Skill University in Goa on the lines of Delhi’s DSEU.
“Goans are tried of the BJP. Today Pramod Sawant has launched Sarkar Tumchya Daari just months before the election, where was he sleeping for the past 5 years?” said AAP Goa Sr Vice President Mahadev Naik. The BJP has been dangling the carrot of 10,000 jobs after every election, but Goenkars know that only AAP can provide them with Jobs” added Naik.
“We have hit the ground with a force of leaders who are taking Arvind Kejriwal’s Job Guarantee to the ground! Each leader has been trained in the nuances of the promise and how Arvind Kejriwal has solved the problem in Delhi. In the morning before these meetings all our speakers had a training session led by me on the various details and problems faced by Goenkars in getting jobs.” said AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre.
“The huge responses proves that AAP is the only party that is trusted to be the alternative to the BJP” added Mhambre
