ANJUNA: The Youth Congress staged a protest demanding the immediate arrest of Casino owner Chitti Babu Ghanta, alleging that he cheated several Goans and has been shielded from police action due to alleged political patronage.
During the protest, Youth Congress leaders claimed that Ghanta had allegedly cheated 12 Goans of crores of rupees and had also failed to clear government dues.
They further alleged that multiple criminal complaints have been filed against him but claimed that no action has been taken because of his alleged proximity to senior BJP leaders.
The protesters also alleged that Ghanta is involved in the real estate, hospitality and entertainment sectors and expressed concerns that the scale of the alleged fraud could be much larger.
The Youth Congress demanded justice for the affected Goans, recovery of pending government dues and the immediate arrest of Chitti Babu Ghanta, stating that prompt action was necessary to prevent further alleged scams.
The allegations were made by the Youth Congress during the protest. There has been no official response from Chitti Babu Ghanta or the BJP regarding the claims.
