PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa today deferred to Monday,March 24 the hearing on a plea challenging commencement of new Academic Year in April instead of June.
A group of parents had approached High Court challenging the government’s decision on Academic year stating thst the stakeholders were not consulted.
The Court had last week issued notices to the Union Ministry of Education and Goa government.
During the hearing today, the government informed the High Court that new draft Rules under Goa Education Act has been issued to start new academic session for standard 1-5 from June and standard 6-10 & 12 from 7 April.
The government said thst the draft has been kept open for public to submit objections in 15 days.
The Court, however has not granted any interim stay on the decision.
