PONDA: Three, including one lady passenger, driver, and cleaner, have been injured in Volvo and passenger bus accident at GVM circle today morning at around 11 am.
According to Ponda Police, the Volvo bus was traveling from Pune towards Margao while the local passenger bus was moving from Ponda towards Farmagudi and when it reached GVM circle both buses dashed each other.
The injured driver of the local passenger bus from Velguem Bicholim was shifted to GMC while the lady passenger and cleaner were admitted to Ponda Sub District Hospital.
It may be recalled that for past many years, locals have been demanding rectification of the GVM circle.
The accidents often take place when vehicles proceeding from Panjim towards Margao get confuse while negotiating the GVM circle and often collide with vehicles proceeding from Ponda towards Farmagudi- Panjim.
Bandora Sarpanch Rajesh Naik said “We are tired of asking NH officials to improve the road for safety. However there is no change in the situation.”
He recalled that accidents continue at same spot, but there is no study on it, nor measures are adopted. In February this year, Native of Vengulra, Maharashtra died after his bike was hit by a truck while his wife was seriously injured at GVM circle.
