PORVORIM: Police have registered a case against an Activa scooter rider for allegedly driving rashly and negligently, causing a collision near the Magson showroom on Chogam Road, Porvorim.
The incident occurred on August 23, 2026, between 2:45 pm and 3:00 pm. According to the complaint filed on behalf of the State by HC 4880 Pranesh L. Gawas of Saligao Police Station, Atul Moitra and his wife Priyanka Sudhin Thakkar were travelling from Panaji towards Calangute on a rented Fascino scooter bearing registration number GA-03-AV-0946.
When they reached near the Magson showroom, the rider of an Activa scooter bearing registration number GA-03-AU-1518, identified as Raju s/o Mohan Valmiki, allegedly came from the Church side and crossed the main road in a rash and negligent manner without due care and caution.
The Activa allegedly hit the Fascino scooter from the right side, causing Atul Moitra and his wife to fall on the road and sustain injuries. The Activa rider also fell during the collision.
Police said the accused allegedly fled the spot along with his scooter without informing the police or providing medical assistance to the injured persons.
The complaint was registered on August 24, 2026, at around 11:44 pm. Further investigation is in progress with HC 4880 Pranesh Gawas.
