VALPOI: Valpoi Police have registered a case against social activist Vishwasrao Rane and two unidentified persons for allegedly trespassing into a 2.00 MLD raw water tank at Keri, Sattari, without permission.
According to the complaint filed by Yogesh Sawant, Assistant Engineer with the Department of Drinking Water, SD-II, WD-III, Valpoi, the incident took place on August 29, 2026, at around 2 pm at the 2.00 MLD raw water tank at Keri.
The complainant alleged that Rane and two other unknown persons, acting with common intention, unlawfully entered the water tank, which is classified as a vital installation, without obtaining permission from the competent authority.
Police said the alleged unauthorised entry could interfere with the disinfection process of the water before it is supplied to the public and potentially raise public health concerns.
Further investigation is underway with PSI Sahil Naik of Valpoi Police Station.
