MORJIM: Advocate Ankur Kumar was allegedly assaulted by a group of 8 to 10 persons while visiting Morjim to facilitate the implementation of Supreme Court and Bombay High Court orders directing the demolition of an allegedly illegal hotel structure.
According to available information, Kumar had gone to the site along with complainant Anil Naik when the group allegedly attacked him using rods and stones. His car was also reportedly damaged during the incident.
The advocate sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured eye socket, bleeding from the nose and other injuries. He was subsequently provided medical treatment.
The incident comes after the Supreme Court dismissed the final appeal filed by the property owner, effectively clearing the way for the demolition of the alleged illegal coastal structure at Morjim.
Police are expected to investigate the incident and take further action based on the complaint and evidence collected.
