MOPA: Mopa Airport Police have registered a case against an Afghan national for allegedly staying in India without valid travel documents and fraudulently obtaining an Indian passport using a fake identity.
According to police, the offence was registered on June 17, 2026, at 10.41 pm based on a complaint lodged by Ajaykumar Jivane, 38, Immigration Officer with the Bureau of Immigration at Manohar International Airport, Mopa.
The complaint states that at around 6.15 pm on June 17, during immigration checks at the arrivals section of Manohar International Airport, officials detected that the accused, identified as Manish alias Kanish, son of Roshan Singh, aged 29 years and an Afghanistan national, had allegedly travelled and stayed in India without possessing valid travel documents.
Further inquiry revealed that the accused had allegedly misrepresented his identity and submitted false documents in the name of “Manish Singh” to obtain passport-related facilities in India. Police said he intentionally furnished fabricated documents and used the fake identity as genuine before government authorities.
The accused is alleged to have successfully obtained a fake Indian passport for personal use, thereby cheating the authorities and violating immigration and passport regulations.
A case has been registered, and further investigation is being carried out by PSI Viraj Sawant of Mopa Airport Police Station.
