CANACONA: Amidst the torrential rains intermittently pouring, a huge tree got uprooted and came crashing on the building/House where the Police Outpost of Agonda is housed on Friday afternoon.
The un-identified tree with huge trunk got paritially uprooted at its root, and with its large branches came to rest on roof-top of the police outpost damaged the roof-tiles and rafters badly.
Incidentally, on intimation personnel from Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) came and left without attending the disaster at hand stating F&ES has no services of an Expert Tree-Cutter.
According to Agonda VP Secretary Amol K Naik Gaunkar, confirming that Fire & Emergency Services personnel indeed came on intimation but had left without removing the dangeriously resting huge tree on the Police outpost as ‘Not possible’ with the them.
Coming to the rescue of the police out-post , VP Agonda requisitioned a JCB Crane and hired manpower with tree- cutter to cut the branches and systematically removed the dangerously hanging tree on house housing the Police Out-post of Agonda.
Interestingly, when contacted a source at Canacona F&ES informed that the panchayat did arranged for expert tree cutter which they don’t have and a JCB-Crane, but they did helped to clear the possible tree branches and helped to save over 40 thousand rupees to the outpost building which suffered damages to the tune of over 50,000/-
Agonda Police Outpost functions in Doctors Quarter situated within the compound of Agonda Primary Health Centre., Besides Panchayat Secretary local panch Ramnath Velip and panch John Fernandes were present.
In another incident a cashew tree fell on the house of Cipriano Fernandes at Karashirmoll-Agonda causing a loss of 5000, while Fire services personnel in their timely assistance helped to save Rs.20,000/- ,
A Banyan tree came crashing down on a Bar belonging to one Moses Cardozo at Mastimol, Canacona which was cleared by F&ES personnel.
F&ES personnel rushed to cut and remove ajungle tree fell on the MDR-49 road at Molorem- Khola, while saved 5- thousand rupees to one Rosario Dias of Galgibaga on whose house a ekashi –tree fell causing loss of 20 thousand rupees.
A tree fell on Car-Shade of Rupesh Painguinkar at Kindlem causing fifteen thousand loss, besides a tree fell on the road at Babrem-Kindlem, which was effectively cut and removed by F&ES personnel
