PORVORIM: State Cabinet today decided to transfer the Sanjivani Sugar Factory from Cooperative department to Agriculture department.
Addressing press conference post meeting, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that the cabinet has taken the decision to transfer to factory to Agriculture department.
Government had on Tuesday announced that the factory will not be shut down and options like running on public private partnership (PPP) model would be explored.
The factory is currently non- operational.
Agriculture Minister also informed that the government is also looking at other perspectives on whether to run the factory on PPP model or by using Central funds under the agriculture sector.
“Many private companies have approached the government and the farmer. We will be looking into this matter,” he added
Meanwhile, the Agriculture Minister has assured the farmers that government will continue to take care of the farmers until the operations at the factory resumes.
