PANAJI: In a concerted effort to enhance law and order in the district, the North Goa Police has intensified its focus on criminal elements over the last week. A series of proactive measures have been implemented to curb criminal activities and maintain public safety.
History Sheeters checked: In the past seven days, approximately 85 history sheets have been thoroughly checked. This is part of a broader effort to keep a close watch on individuals with a criminal past and ensure that their activities are being monitored.
Surprise Night Checks: Duty Officers have been instructed to carry out surprise checks at the residences of history sheeters during the night. This is being done daily to closely monitor their activities and ensure compliance with the law.
“There are 100 History Sheeters in North Goa. They have been identified based on their previous criminal background.,” he added
Increased Surveillance: Enhanced surveillance has been mounted on all known criminals across the district. This measure aims to deter any potential criminal activity and enable swift action if necessary.
Identification of New History Sheeters: All police stations (PSs) in the district have been directed to actively identify cases for the creation of new history sheets. This will enable the police to keep track of emerging criminal elements and address potential threats early.
Coordination for Externment Proceedings: Coordination has been established with the District Collector to initiate externment proceedings against habitual offenders. This will further strengthen the efforts to prevent criminal activities by removing repeat offenders from the district if necessary.
