PANAJI: The Goa Badminton Association will work hand in hand with the Para-Badminton Committee and organise regular tournaments and camps, besides practice sessions for para players, the Goa Badminton Association announced through a Press Release.
“At least 3 tournaments will be planned from October to December, and Para players will be prepared to participate in the Para Nationals. Badminton is hugely popular, and there is immense interest among Para players who we found very keen and enthusiastic during the Para-Badminton Tournament, which was held recently”, stated Sandeep Heble, GBA Secretary.
In the first Para-Badminton Tournament for the 2022-23 season at Manohar Parrikar Indoor Stadium Navelim, Para players competed in two categories, Standing and Wheelchair. Alex Albuquerque and Raju Magdum emerged as winners and Runner-ups in the Standing category. Gopal Naik and Sachin Gad emerged in joint third.
In the wheelchair category, Stany D Souza (Gold), Moises Rodrigues(Silver) and Sayed Mosik Mauli (Bronze) emerged on Podium. Vishant Nagvekar, Mukesh Chaudhary and Ruki Ahmed emerged as consolation winners. The tournament was organised by the Para-Badminton Committee of the Goa Badminton Association.
