VASCO: Mother and Child room dedicated to Vasco police station by Rotary Club Vasco Port Town was inaugurated by DGP Dr Indradev Shukla in the presence of police personnel on Monday. Vasco police station becomes first to house such facility for the citizens informed DGP Shukla.
Goa police have now chosen a more friendly approach and have been trying various confidence-building measures to gain their confidence.
After the inauguration of the Mother and Child daycare room in the Vasco police station, Director General of Police Dr Indradev Shukla told media that this facility was being introduced so that it could prove helpful to those women who come to discuss or file a complaint in the police station, they can keep their children in this place for a while.
Further, on the upper floor of the police station, a guest house was also inaugurated for the police personnel who come for training purposes and for the visiting officers.
DGP Shukla also informed that he will also meet the local police and discuss the traffic parking issue from the town. “I feel the heavy vehicles need to be diverted via Varunapuri flyover,” he added.
Further commenting on the town security aspect, DGP Shukla added that 100 to 200 CCTV cameras will likely be installed all over Vasco.
“Some patrons have come forward to support this cause. We want women, children, senior citizens to feel safe in Port town,” he added.
Meanwhile, commenting on the postal ballot voting issue, DGP Shukla said that some police personnel from IRB who had gone to Uttar Pradesh for election duty are coming back to Goa by Tuesday to exercise their voting right. Till March 9, these policemen could exercise the postal vote; they should exercise their right of voting. Police duty is tough, and all police personnel serve in sensitive areas at some point. I feel all police are ready to face challenges,” he added.
