VASCO: A shocking incident unfolded aboard the fishing trawler Vasco King, registered as IND-GA-01-MM-3644, during a deep-sea fishing expedition. The Harbour Coastal Security Police have registered an offence under sections 109 of the BNS Act 2023 following a complaint filed by Sayed Abbasaib Thota, a resident of Chicalim, Goa.
The incident occurred on November 22, 2024, at approximately 10:15 PM, when the trawler, with 25 crew members on board, was anchored about 22 nautical miles from Khariwada Jetty. It is alleged that Dinesh Swansi (22), hailing from Jaranga, Jharkhand, assaulted fellow crew member Sudhir Dungdung, a resident of Sundargarh, Odisha, with a metal object while the victim was asleep.
The brutal attack left Sudhir with head injuries, after which Dinesh reportedly attempted to drag and throw him overboard. However, the other crew members intervened just in time, preventing a potential tragedy.
