CANDOLIM: An Australian national was arrested by Calangute Police on Friday night for allegedly staying illegally in Goa with an invalid visa.
According to police, the offence was registered at 10.01 pm on July 4, 2026, based on a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Vishwajit Dhavlikar of Calangute Police Station.
The accused has been identified as David John Jeffree, an Australian citizen who was residing at a flat in Devashri Sun & Sand apartment at Bamon Waddo, Candolim.
Police said that during a verification conducted at around 9.05 pm on July 4, the foreign national was found staying in India without valid travel documents, as his visa was allegedly invalid.
Based on the findings, Calangute Police registered a case against the accused under Section 23(a) of the Immigration and Foreigners Act, 2025 for allegedly violating immigration regulations.
