MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1.45 crore on Central Bank of India for non-compliance with certain directions issued by RBI, the central bank said on June 14. According to an RBI press release, the bank sanctioned a working capital demand loan to a Corporation against amounts receivable from Government by way of subsidies. New Delhi: Domestic air passenger traffic rose 4.4% in May compared to last year, data released by the civil aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) stated on Friday. According to the DGCA, the domestic airlines flew over 13.7 million passengers last month compared to 13.2 million in May last year. Comparing the year-on-year data, the regulator stated, “Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January – May 2024 were 661.42 lakhs (66.142 million) as against 636.07 lakhs (63.607 million) during the corresponding period of the previous year thereby, registering an annual growth of 3.99% and monthly growth of 4.40%.” The…

MUMBAI: India’s merchandise exports grew 9.1% on year in May to $ 38.13 billion, but a sharp 28% rise in imports of petroleum crude and products pushed imports growth to 7.7%, precipitating a trade deficit of $23.78 billion, the highest since October last year, official data released on Friday showed.
