PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant led the people of the State to pay tributes to Dr Tristao Braganza Cunha, the Father of the Goan Liberation struggle on the occasion of his death anniversary.
The Chief Minister laid a wreath on the memorial of Dr T B Cunha at Azad Maidan, Panjim, paying homage to his pivotal role in the fight for Goa’s freedom.
Chief Minister Sawant emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by freedom fighters. “The coming generation should know and remember the struggle for the freedom of Goa,” he stated.
Shri Ramkrishna alias Sudin Dhavalikar, Minister for Power; Shri Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, Chief Secretary; Shri Alok Kumar, IPS, DGP Goa; Dr V Candavelou, IAS, Secretary (Finance); Shri Rohidas Naik Desai, President of the Goa Daman Diu Freedom Fighters Association along with other dignitaries also paid their homage at the memorial.
The Police guard of honour paid compliments to the memorial.
The Police band played the Last Post and National Anthem.
Tristao de Braganca Cunha (1891-1958), known as the “Father of Goan nationalism” was a key figure in Goa’s anti-colonial movement, recognized for organizing the first significant efforts to end Portuguese rule in the region.
