Goemkarponn desk PANAJI: Central Water Commission (CWC) has cleared the diversion of 1.72 TMC of water from the Kalasa Dam and 2.18 TMC from the Bhandura dam.  Following the clearance, the Central government accepted the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of the state government. Based on the technical appraisal by the CWC, the DPR of the Kalasa Nala Diversion Scheme and Bhandura Diversion Lift Scheme are found to be acceptable from hydrology and inter-state aspects. Goemkarponn desk PANAJI: Agassaim Police has busted a gang of female thieves who used to commit theft in moving passenger buses. As per the information, two thieves, Shirisha Vasu Katgi Tokulu and Kajol Vasu Katgi are both residents of Aurangabad in Maharashtra. Police have recovered six gold bangles worth Rs 4 lakhs and cash of Rs 15,000. Police have suspected they may be involved in some other theft cases across the state. Based on previous complaints, a lookout notice was issued by the police. The thieves were caught in a bus.

Goemkarponn desk PONDA: Bike rider Manjunath Hemar (40), basically from Karnataka and presently residing in Goa, was seriously injured in a Car and bike accident at Dhatwada Usgao at 7.30 am today. The Maharashtra-based car driver was proceeding towards Ponda from Usgao while the bike rider was toward Usgao, and when it reached Dhatwada near the petrol pump, the Car dashed the bike rider from the wrong side (right-hand side).
