PANJIM: Sixteen UK passengers passengers who arrived in Goa have been tested positive to Covid so far. Over 400 passengers, out of 900, arrived from UK after December 8, have been tested so far. Stating that Goa Miles, app based taxi service, cannot be scrapped, Minister for Ports Michael Lobo has urged tourist taxi operators to install meters thereby allowing a queue based system outside hotels to entertain customers. Speaking to reporters, Lobo said that Goa Miles cannot be scrapped. He said that the taxi operators will have to install meters and the government can make the required rule allowing these taxis, in queue, infront of the hotels to provide service to the customers. PANJIM: Goa today reported 61 new COVID-19 positive cases. While there were 87 recoveries and 3 deaths reported today. As per DHS bulletin, a 62 year old from Quepem, a 68 year from Caranzalem with DM+HTN and 60 year old from Bicholim with ILP+PTB succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, the active cases now stand at 951 while the total deaths till today are 731. The samples tested in the last 24 hrs is 1205 and 96.67% is the recovery rate.

Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) on Friday conducted a narcotic raid at Arambol Beach, Pernem Goa and arrested one Nigerian National in possession of drugs worth Rs 7.60 lakhs. As per ANC, the accused person namely Emeka Daniel Okoji (41) was caught with 31.01 grams of whitish colour powder substance suspected to be Cocaine and 4.444 grams of brownish colour liquid suspected to be LSD liquid, collectedly worth Rs. 7,60,000.
