PERNEM: Former Goa Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar has pledged to contest the 2027 Goa Assembly elections as an independent candidate, irrespective of whether he receives the BJP ticket. He said his primary objective is to provide employment opportunities to every household in Pernem taluka and address the growing concern of unemployment.
Ajgaonkar made the statement while interacting with farmers at Mahakal in Dhargal, where he also appealed to them to take advantage of the free paddy harvesting assistance being provided to support agricultural activities.
Emphasising his commitment to the development of the Pernem constituency, Ajgaonkar said development works would continue, but tackling unemployment would remain his main priority. He expressed his determination to create employment opportunities for local residents and ensure that every household in the taluka benefits from livelihood opportunities.
Making his political stand clear ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections, Ajgaonkar stated that his decision to contest would not depend on whether he secured the BJP nomination. He appealed to the people of Pernem to support his mission of ensuring employment for every household.
Ajgaonkar reiterated that his focus would remain on development, farmers’ welfare and employment generation in the constituency.
