MARGAO: Margao Town Police have initiated an inquiry following the death of an unidentified man who was found lying on a footpath near Margao Railway Station in the early hours of Tuesday.
According to police, information was received from the South Goa District Hospital at around 3 am that an unknown male, aged approximately 40 years, had been brought dead to the casualty ward after being found unconscious near the railway station.
During the inquiry, police visited the hospital and gathered information indicating that the deceased was a beggar who had been staying in the Station Road area of Margao for the past few months.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been established. The body has been preserved at the South Goa District Hospital, Margao, pending medico-legal formalities and identification.
Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Subhash Gaonkar of Margao Town Police Station.
