PANAJI: The BJP questioned the manner in which Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai’s recent award at the House of Commons in London has been presented to the public, alleging that it may have created the impression of being an official recognition by the UK Parliament.
Addressing a press conference, BJP Goa spokesperson and Media Convenor Siddesh Shripad Naik said that while the event was reportedly held within the premises of the House of Commons, it was a privately organised function and should not be projected as an official honour conferred by the UK Parliament.
Naik said there is a clear distinction between an award presented during a private event hosted at the House of Commons and an official parliamentary recognition. He alleged that equating the two could mislead the public.
He further said that public representatives have a responsibility to present facts accurately and transparently, adding that the people of Goa deserve clarity on whether the recognition was an official honour from the UK Parliament or an award presented by a private organisation using the parliamentary venue.
Naik urged those concerned to place complete and factual information before the public, stating that political communication should be based on truth and transparency rather than creating misleading impressions.
