MARGAO:
Mahila Congress president Beena Naik on Friday said that the Congress Party has always respected the dignity of women and have always tried to encourage them to participate in social activities and the the insulting statement made by BJP General Secretary Damu Naik is reflection of BJP’s anti-women culture.
She was reacting to the statement made by Damu Naik at a press conference yesterday wherein Damu Naik tried to ridicule Congress Spokesperson Pallavi Bhagat by questioning her political knowledge.
He had also said that the press note issued by her was written by someone else.
“I condemn the statement of Damu Naik who referred our party spokesperson as ” so-called Spokesperson”. With this reference, Damu Naik has tried to showcase Women as backward, illiterate and incapable. This is not only the insult of Pallavi Bhagat but the entire Women Community charged,” Beena Naik and demanded public apology from him.
She said that Congress spokesperson Pallavi Bhagat had rightly exposed the baseless allegations by BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanawade leveled on Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat.
“The truth in her statement compelled Damu Naik and others to immediately address a press conference as a face saving exercise. If this promptness was shown by the BJP in holding the Government responsible on its failures on Covid Management, Rising Crimes, CZMP, Coal Hub, Environmental Destruction, Mhadei, Academic Action Plan, Collapse of Economy and various other issues, life in Goa would have been different today,” Beena Naik said.
“Dr. Pramod Sawant has declared that he is going to take forward the legacy of Ex-Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar. It is natural that the Chief Minister, BJP and all those who claim to be torch bearers Parrikars legacy will also have to answer and pay for all the political misdeeds of late Manohar Parrikar. I want to inform Damu Naik that out of 21 corruption cases ordered by Goa Lokayukta, maximum happened during late Manohar Parrikars tenure as Chief Minister,” stated Beena Naik.
BJP which is now conveniently using the name and legacy of late Manohar Parrikar for taking political mileage must also speak on Vindictive and Dictatorial attitude of late Manohar Parrikar. BJP must also speak about the unilateral decision of the former CM Parrikar on closure of mining in Goa which pushes Goans into bankruptcy, stated Beena Naik.
