MARDOL: Mardol Police have registered a case against the driver of a Bolero Invader following a fatal road accident at Simepaine, Mardol, that claimed the life of a scooter rider.
According to the state complaint filed by HC 5766 Shridas Maulingkar of Mardol Police Station, the incident occurred on June 8, 2026, prior to 9:41 a.m., on the curve road at Simepaine while proceeding from the Madkai bypass road towards Mardol.
Police alleged that the accused driver, Anand Pawar, a resident of Curti, Ponda, was driving the Bolero Invader in a rash and negligent manner without taking proper care and caution while travelling from Mardol towards the Madkai bypass.
Upon reaching the curved slope at Simepaine, the vehicle allegedly collided with an oncoming Activa scooter travelling in the opposite direction.
The impact caused the scooter rider, Sourabh Dhere, a resident of Kolhapur, to fall onto the road and sustain serious injuries. He was shifted to GMC Bambolim, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Police conducted an inquest panchanama at the hospital, after which the body was sent for post-mortem examination.
The police surgeon certified the cause of death as “injury to chest and abdomen with underlying vital organ damage consequent to blunt force impact against a surface or object.”
The body was subsequently handed over to the family for final religious rites.
