MARGAO: A house at Comba, Margao, was allegedly burgled in broad daylight, with brass puja articles and kitchen utensils worth ₹1.20 lakh stolen from the premises, police said.
The complaint was lodged by Mahesh Rivankar, a resident of Borda, Margao, who reported that the theft occurred on June 10 between 9 am and 5 pm. According to the complaint, two unidentified men aged between 30 and 40 years had been engaged to clean the backyard of the house earlier that day.
Police said the suspects allegedly broke open the rear door of the residence and entered the house. They are accused of stealing two brass hanging lamps (lamindives), two brass samayas, one brass pancharati, one brass ekarati and other puja articles from the household temple.
The accused also allegedly decamped with five brass cooking utensils and four to five aluminium utensils from the kitchen, taking away property collectively valued at approximately ₹1,20,000.
Based on the complaint, Margao Town Police have registered a case against the unidentified accused persons and initiated an investigation. Police are working to identify and trace the suspects involved in the theft.
