PANAJI: The state government today has notified an increase in Infrastructure Tax for residential, commercial, industrial and other types of buildings.
As per the notification, the Residential building or structure having a built-up area which ar-measures 101 sq. mts. or above will fall under the new bracket.
The notification states that category A for the Coastal Panchayat area and five major towns, namely, Panaji, Mapusa, Ponda, Mormugao and Margao, infrastructure tax has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 350
For Category B Other Municipal towns, Census towns, and Village Panchayats adjoining or contiguous to the major towns of Panaji, Mapusa, Ponda, Mormugao, and Margao, infrastructure tax has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 300.
For Category C other Village Panchayat areas, infrastructure tax has been increased from Rs 200 to Rs 250
A similar increase in Infrastructure Tax has also affected Commercial buildings, industrial buildings, other Buildings, Infrastructural project/ /facilities etc.
The Goa Tax on Infrastructure Act, 2009 (Goa Act 20 of 2009) has been changed to this effect.
Also, the state government has notified new rules for calculating property tax for Municipal Areas effective from April 1,2023.
As per new taxes if new residential buildings or premises, tax payable shall be at the rate of 0.15 per centum of the annual capital value of such building or premises to be assessed for tax.
In the case of new commercial buildings or premises, tax payable shall be at the rate of 0.25 per centum of the annual capital value of such buildings or premises to be assessed for tax.
The notification shall come into force on the 1st day of April 2023.
