PANAJI: The Bengaluru police said they had arrested a city-based businessman from Goa for allegedly kidnapping his five-year-old son from the possession of his live-in partner and reunited the boy with the mother.
The arrested has been identified as Harikrishna, a native of Karnataka’s Ballari district. On June 16, he allegedly kidnapped the boy from his school, and the mother complained to the police in Bengaluru.
Harikrishna and his partner were in a live-in relationship for the past eight years, but the couple had started fighting recently over property issues and domestic matters, the police said.
police officer said, “Harikrishna recently demanded the woman give his son to him, and when she refused, he approached the court, which gave the mother the child’s custody. Furious over it, Harikrishna kidnapped the child when his mother had dropped him at the school.
Harikrishna was previously arrested for reportedly hiring contract killers to kill his father Singanamale Madhav, who had about Rs 300 crore worth assets in his name. Madhav was stabbed to death outside his apartment on February 14, 2020.
He owned a mining company, Ballari Steels and Alloys Limited, spread over 2,000 acres on the outskirts of Ballari. Following the complaint, the police arrested Harikrishna and Madhav’s brother-in-law Shivaram.
Harikrishna had come out on bail, and the case was pending before the court, said the police.
