MAPUSA: Calangute police arrested two persons residing in Parra for allegedly committing theft of mobiles from visitors at Calangute beach and recovered eight handsets from them.
Bipin Kumar Tanti, 33, a resident of Tivim, native of Bihar, on Sunday lodged a complaint with Calangute police that some unknown persons had committed theft of his two mobiles worth Rs 18,000 approximately while he was visiting Calangute beach on Saturday at around 5pm.
During investigations the accused persons, Rakib Aliyajam Mulla, 24, and Rasib Aliyajam Mulla, 22, both residents of Parra, Bardez, and natives of Sandarpur, Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal, were caught and eight mobile phones of different makes all worth Rs 1.5 lakh were recovered from them, Calangute police said. Further investigations are on.
